Description: Graham Page Wilson went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2021. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, and brother. Family came first for Graham, but he spent his life as a public servant in both his professional and personal life. Graham rose to the rank of Assistant City Manager for the City of Poquoson after serving as its Commissioner of Revenue as well as the Chief Deputy Commissioner in Hampton. He was an active member of his community and in the Kiwanis Club of Poquoson where he served a term as the club President. He was an avid sports fan and lifetime advocate of Poquoson sports organizations. Graham was a mentor and a friend to many people and is remembered for his love for others and commitment to serving his community. The Kiwanis Club of Poquoson and his friends and family are honored to sponsor this scholarship so that in his memory a student wishing to pursue a career in public service may find their path a bit easier.
Application Criteria: This scholarship will be awarded to a Poquoson High School senior who meets the following criteria. Only students wishing to pursue a career in the public sector may apply. The applicant must have been involved in either a sport at Poquoson High School or another school-sponsored club/organization. The applicant must also demonstrate that they have completed their community service hours. Additionally, the applicant must submit their unofficial transcript with their application and have maintained a 3.0 GPA throughout high school. In conjunction with meeting the criteria, the applicant shall submit up to a 500 word essay answering the following questions. Be sure to introduce yourself, your interest, and summarize your high school career. Then, answer the following questions, Why do you think it is important that people pursue careers in public service? Why are you pursuing a career in public service?
Applications for this scholarship will be available on line in the Spring of 2022.
